No catfishing here! Catfish star Nev Schulman and wife Laura Perlongo stopped by Us Weekly to play the Newlywed Game, where they told Us all about their first date, their first fight and Schulman’s not-so-great gift giving skills. Watch the video above!
In true Catfish fashion, Schulman, 33, met Perlongo on Instagram, decided to direct message her and asked her to dinner. Luckily, she said “yes” and the MTV star picked her up on his motorcycle.
“It was the first time I was picked up by a stranger on a motorcycle. I was a little nervous to be honest,” Perlongo told Us. “I was like, ‘Are we gonna die? Is this worth dying?’”
So, did it end with a kiss? “It ended with a little bit more than that,” Schulman revealed to Us.
However, the couple, who married in July 2017 and share daughter, Cleo, 14-months, did suffer some setbacks and had their first major fight because Schulman was “too in love” with her.
“I just got out of a thing, and I had been damaged by that, and I felt that maybe I was all messed up, and I wasn’t ready,” Schulman explained to Us. “I screwed it up and then I had to win her back.”
Perlongo added, “I don’t think I officially took him back until we got pregnant.”
Since then, things have been smooth sailing for Schulman and Perlongo, who appears on season 7 of Catfish, despite the fact that he once gifted her a toilet seat.

“I had a beautiful toilet seat that had a little chip in it and he replaced it,” Perlongo said before Schulman added, “She had an old toilet seat…it was all gross and chippy and it was disgusting. The whole bathroom was disgusting.”
Catfish: The TV Show airs on MTV Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET.
