MSNBC suffered a ratings blow in January after one of its shows was knocked from one of the most-watched cable news programs.
Deadline: White House With Nicolle Wallace regularly appeared in the monthly top 10 of the most watched cable news shows in the U.S. but last month fell out of the charts.
The fall came after its anchor, Nicolle Wallace, went on maternity leave after welcoming her second child in November.
In fact, in the month prior to her taking time, Wallace had the highest rating MSNBC news show with an average of 1.69 million average viewers, according to Mediaite.
That was a significant jump from September with 1.54 million average viewers.
But in January, the show fell out of the top 10 to 13th place, with many of the audience saying they missed Wallace presenting the show, according to AdWeek.
"I didn't realize how much Deadline White House was part of my daily WFH routine until Wallace went on maternity leave. Don't get me wrong, I really like Alicia Menendez and I really hope they give her her own show when her fill-in time is done on Deadline. But as we inch closer to the primaries I find myself really needing the wry, kinda dorky*, but overall reassuring way Nicole Wallace hosts her segments," wrote one person on Reddit.
Another added: "Definitely. She's the reason I watch MSNBC. I still miss Brian Williams. Lawrence is good as well."
And a third commented: "I was SOOOOOO hopeful as I tuned in today. But she should take every minute she's allowed - and then some. I'll be there when she comes back."
Newsweek contacted MSNBC by email for comment.
Wallace welcomed a daughter, Isabella Sloane, via surrogate with husband and journalist, Michael S. Schmidt.
She revealed the happy news in November when calling into her show and chatting with her replacement, Alicia Menendez.
"I have not looked at my phone in a week, and I am amazed at the theories out there," Wallace began, referring to people wondering why she had not been anchoring the show.
"I understand why the truth was ruled out by so many people that Mike and I had a baby. Her name is Isabella Sloane Schmidt, and Mike and Liam and I are all smitten with her."
Wallace married New York Times investigative reporter Schmidt in 2022. She was previously married to Mark Wallace, a former diplomat and they share a son Liam, 11.
She praised Liam for doting on his new sister.
"He just has a knack for the sway and the 'shh'," Nicolle explained. "You know, all the things that you do no matter where you are when you have a baby."
